On location in Zanzibar: Why the Trude Adler School has been close to our hearts for years.

For us at gts, social engagement is not a short-term project, but a long-term responsibility. For many years, we have been supporting the Trude Adler School in Zanzibar – a school that is financed exclusively by donations and gives children access to education who would otherwise have little chance of receiving it.

Our colleague Sonja recently had the opportunity to see the situation on the ground for herself. The visit showed us once again how important sustainable support is and how much it can achieve.

Education as the key to real prospects.

The Trude Adler School offers children from socially disadvantaged families access to basic education. More than half of the pupils are only able to attend classes regularly thanks to sponsorships from Europe. These sponsorships not only ensure school attendance, but also create real prospects for the future.

Among other things, the following subjects are taught:

  • Swahili (the national language)
  • English
  • Reading and writing
  • Arithmetic
  • hygiene
  • nutrition

It is precisely the combination of school education and practical information on health and nutrition that makes a difference in children's everyday lives.

More than just lessons: one hot meal a day.

One particularly moving aspect is that the children receive a hot meal every day – free of charge. What may sound like a matter of course to many is the only meal of the day for numerous pupils. This provision not only improves their ability to concentrate in class, but also makes a decisive contribution to their health and development. Education and nutrition go hand in hand here.

Personal impressions that linger.

The visit to the site impressively demonstrated the level of commitment and passion with which the project is being run. Despite limited resources, there is an atmosphere of motivation, enthusiasm for learning and mutual respect.

The children are eager to learn, open-minded and grateful for the opportunity to attend school. The teachers do a fantastic job, often under challenging conditions.

Why we take responsibility as a company.

As a company, we are part of a global society. For us, economic success and social responsibility go hand in hand.

Supporting the Trude Adler School is not a marketing project – it is an expression of our conviction that education enables lasting change.

We are grateful to be part of this development and would like to thank all sponsors and supporters who make this project possible.

Because ultimately, education creates opportunities. And opportunities change lives.
