Jonas Sch\u00fcppen is studying \"Scientific Programming\" at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences and at the same time is training as a mathematical-technical software developer at gts. What exactly does the dual study course \"Scientific Programming\" include?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tJonas Sch\u00fcppen:<\/em> \u201cIn summary, it is about solving mathematical problems with the help of computer science. The focus is primarily on mathematics with analysis, linear algebra, stochastics and numerics. Around 50% of the course consists of lectures and theory, the rest of the time I spend on training at gts during the semester. \" \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Why did you choose this course?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tJonas Sch\u00fcppen:<\/em> \u201cAt our school, the course was presented as part of the career information days. Gts also introduced itself there. I just found it all really exciting. And I think the dual concept, including compulsory attendance, makes sense. Just like the fact that I already have an income and therefore no longer need a part-time job. Above all, however, the prospects are good, because after three years I have two degrees and a lot of professional experience. That is exactly what companies are looking for, in other words, a win-win situation. \"\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

What are the tasks of a \u201cmathematical technical software developer\u201d - and what do you do specifically at gts?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
I am currently working on optimizing and creating algorithms for working with polygons. These are used to improve the map display in our route planning software TransIT. In this way, for example, you can avoid gaps and overlaps when displaying areas. Other fields of activity are, for example, the calculation of the CO2<\/sub> emissions of vehicles for certain routes and the work at the corresponding interfaces. I'm also working on TransIT Mobile, the gts app. \"<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tJonas Sch\u00fcppen:<\/em> \u201cBefore exams, I often have a 60-hour week and study with other students in the evenings and on weekends. Immediately after the IHK exams, the bachelor's thesis and the oral exam will soon come - that's a lot in parallel. But I'll be ready for that in 3 years. \" \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
